Задержание Сьенфуэгоса Сепеды стало самым крупным после задержания в декабре 2019 года в Техасе бывшего министра общественной безопасности Мексики Хенардо Гарсия Луна. Он занимал этот пост при президенте Фелипе Кальдероне с 2006 по 2012 год.
Его обвинили в торговле наркотиками и получении взяток от главы крупнейшего мексиканского картеля Синалоа Хоакина Гусмана. Позже Луне предъявили обвинения в руководстве преступной группой и ложных заявлениях иммиграционным властям США.
Во время судебного заседания 7 октября Луна не признал свою вину.
